Led Zeppelin released their first record with Atlantic Records in 1969. In no time the record had risen to number eight on the billboard top twenty. The album stayed in the top twenty for six weeks after it hit the charts. When the bands second album, Led Zeppelin II, was released, it was praised by Atlantic Records' as the fastest selling record in history. Led Zeppelin II sold upwards of 100,000 copies a week. In 1975 when "Physical Graffiti" was released the album was selling 500 copies an hour breaking there own previously held record. All of the band albums have gone platinum. Led Zeppelin was the first group to heavily tour the United States and the band occasionally toured the rest of the world. This happened because the band did not have the same following in Britain as previous rock bands. Their success was due to their genius manager Peter Grant. Peter kept the group moving all the time and in hand the peoples interest in the band never faded. Peter realized that if he could have Led Zeppelin tour every other year they would stay in demand, and this way the population would not grow board with the band as quickly. Peter tried his notion while the group worked on their first movie. This movie was, simply, the group playing their music, and was titled; "The Song remains playing." A representative from their record company called and told Page that the sales of the bands new album "Houses of the Holy" were spectacular. The record company told Page that Led Zeppelin, was the biggest selling group in the world. On top of that they were making more money than any other band the time. After Page and Plant heard this they had a moment of triumph. They were living their dream, and nothing could or would stop them know. Around this time of popularity the band was featured in the L.A. Times. They were creating music for the teenage group and they were being perceived as role models. In the summer of 1975, Led Zeppelin was the most popular band in the world. They were packing football stadiums across the United States. Abroad the bands talent was also starting to be recognized, and they held sold out shows all across Europe. They filled Earl's Court, which held 20,000 people a show, for a five-day stay in London England. It was an awesome show that had a dazzling lights, dry ice, smoke, and even lasers. The concerts focused on Jimmy Page and Robert Plant because they were the main attraction of the group. When performing on stage they complimented each other even though they had different styles of music: Plant a golden-ringleted Adonis marvelously parodying the sexual superstar while singing in a voice of limitless power. At this point, Sardy realizes what kind of a man his father is and he decides to take his own path, even if that involves ratting out his own father â€Å"’Barn! ’ He cried ‘Barn! ’† Realizing that Abner is about to burn down another barn Sardy warns Major DeSpain. Thus breaking away from his father’s ways of life and choosing his own path, making sure he himself won’t venture down the same path Abner did. And hopefully be able to stay in one area for a prolonged period of time, making it possible for Sardy to better provide for his family. Abner is easily frustrated at the fact that his family must live in worse living conditions because he cannot provide for his family. He believes in the old ways of slavery, but now that he is beneath an African American in the DeSpain household he despises Major DeSpain and how he treats him and his family as if they are slaves. Abner feels as if he is beneath the African American population after the war, referring to his own family as slaves â€Å"’That’s sweat. Nigger sweat†¦ Maybe he wants to mix some white sweat with it’† (8). The Snopes’ quality of life is far worse than that of the African American butler in the DeSpain’s home. Because of Abners up-bringing in a racist time-period the thought of being below an African American angers him, especially when he is supposed to listen to what a black man tells him to do, â€Å"’Get out of the way, nigger. (7) Despite the new laws regarding slavery the overall attitude of Abner Snopes did not change towards blacks. It certainly did not help that the aristocracy found new ways to get their work done by victimizing poor families, and treating them almost as if they were slaves. Mr. Snopes despised Major DeSpain for treating him and his family un fairly, causing him to once again, attempt to burn down a bar n to get revenge for DeSpains wrongdoings to his family. Abner Snopes is contemptuous of the new ways of this country, refusing to accept the new order of doing things he decides to express his hatred through destroying of other people’s property. In William Faulkner’s Barn Burning he tells the reader of the devastating effects of the new social order of the South. Although many political and economic problems arouse resulting from the civil war the social effects on those living in the southern United States were the most evident in Faulkner’s short story Barn Burning.

Although Wiglaf is by nationality Swedish, he identifies himself as Beowulf's kinsman when he says "I did begin to help my kinsman." (Chickering 64)    Wiglaf, in coming to Beowulf's aid in the fight against the dragon, typifies several important heroic virtues. The most obvious of these is the importance of the relationship between lord and thane. In trying to persuade the other thanes to assist Beowulf, Wiglaf says, "Now the day has come that our liege lord has need of the strength of good fighters. Let us go to him, help our war-chief while the grime terrible fire persists." (Chickering 61) In stating this, Wiglaf reminds the other thanes of the necessity of holding up their end of the bargain in the lord-thane relationship. Anti violence essay Seven years ago I did not think violence existed in America. The most violent act ever committed was the tragedy of the World Trade Center in 9/11/01. The Trade Centers had been the target for something so horrible, and I thought at the time, ‘This will change the world. † I was right about that fact: our airports are more secure, we have to have pass-ports anywhere you go now, you have more thorough bagage checks, and they’re more selective as to what’s in your purse before boarding a plane. I think the most secure place in America right now is our power plants. They have increased security at all our power plants, including the nuclear plants, and also there is air space around each plant so planes have to keep their distance from them. Homeland Security is a common word in our homes today because of 9/11. I wanted to know how. Wanted to know why. Wanted to know what our leaders reactions would be. The world trade center killed many people that my friends knew and loved; that can never be replaced. This act changed the way my friends lived, loved, and acted in school. This spine-chilling nightmare was committed because terrorists took over three planes that flew into the giant buildings. The causes of this violence is the hatred between countries, states, or nations. The hatred is then passed down to the youth generation, because we hear, and see the dislike between the grown-ups. Children learn from the wisdom and actions of what the elders do. Shooting, stabbing, verbal abuse, physical abuse, and gang fights are a few examples of youth violence. All of these exist in schools, neighborhoods, malls, the movies and even in your own home on the internet. Schools have tried to stop it but there is still a lot of verbal abuse anywhere in the school system you go. Youth violence can be stopped by reporting abuse, shooting, stabbings, and anything to do with gangs. It can also be solved by not being the one that does bulling or any of the things listed above. I think it is funny how teachers wonder about why no one reports violence in America. My say on the matter is the kids are scared it will only get worse if we tell a teacher or principal or any adult because they use our name and our grade to the bully or person that Bothers you.
